Paul Ellsworth Peters, age 101 of Monroe, MI passed away peacefully on April 25, 2022 under the care of Wellspring Lutheran Services, Monroe, MI, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Born February 19, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA., Paul was the son of John and Bessie Peters. Paul graduated in 1939 from Mt Lebanon High School in Mt. Lebanon, PA. In the fall of 1939, Paul traveled to Adrian, MI where he would attend Adrian College and was a member of the football team.

While in Adrian, he would meet the love of his life, Virginia Marie Pearce. On December 31, 1941 they were married in Napoleon, OH. The couple remained in Adrian until 1947 when they would move to Monroe. They resided in Monroe until present day where they raised their four children. They were happily married for the next 79 years until Virginia’s passing on February 1, 2021 at the age of 97.

Paul joined the City of Monroe Police Department in 1950 and rose through the ranks over time to become Chief of Police in 1970. During his tenure with the Police Department, he would attend and graduate in October 1962 from the F.B.I. Academy in Washington D.C. In addition, he served as Traffic Engineer for the city from 1966-1979. He would retire as Chief of Police in 1979 after 29 ½ years of service.

In 1980, Paul began working for the County of Monroe as First District Court Magistrate. He would hold that position for 12 years before finally retiring in 1992. Paul took great pride in his work and enjoyed serving the community of Monroe for over 41 years.

In 1952, Paul and Virginia became members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Paul was an active member of the congregation and could be found for many years welcoming church members as a greeter or leading the dishwashing and back of house activities for salad luncheons and funeral dinners while Virginia coordinated and cooked.

During his retirement Paul loved to play golf, walk, and garden. He and Virginia enjoyed eating out, playing cards and spending time with their family. Paul was a loving husband, Father and Grandfather. He will be missed dearly.

Paul is survived by their four children: Douglas (Janet) Peters of Monroe, Susan (Charles) Whitbread of Lambertville, MI, Gregory (Colleen) Peters of Toledo, OH, and David (Vicki) Peters of Monroe, MI. Seven Grandchildren: Ellen (Greg) Sobota, Tracy (Jeff) Petricca, Jennifer (Alex) Young, Sean (Katie) Peters, Megan (Zach) Stiffler, McKenzie Peters, and Kayla Peters. They also have 9 Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Paul will lie in state at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, in Monroe on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11:00. Burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery in Adrian, MI.

In her spare time, Rosa loved to sew. She was well known for her beautiful quilts. She was a member of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe.

Rosa was a beloved wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her step daughter Jennifer Robinson; parents, James Buford and Alice M. (Tarwater) Hanco*ck; brothers, James Buford, Charles, Dennis, Eugene and Don; sisters, Marie, Alice, Bobbie, Barbara, Carol and Cynthia; step sister Brenda (Reno) Bourff; and grandparents, Bruce Hanco*ck and Emma Jane Pollard, Bartholomew Tarwater and Eva Houk.

She is survived by her husband James Roger “Skip” Robinson; daughter Dora (Charles) Kelley; sons, Gerald (Amy) Higdon, Mario (Krystal) Higdon and Keith (Tammy) Higdon; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother Eddie Hanco*ck; sister Janie (Hanco*ck) Whaley; stepbrother, Tommy Reno; and stepsisters, Wanda (Reno) Byrd and Judy (Reno) Caldwell. Visitation will be held at Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe, MI on Friday April 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM. James Roney, age 81, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

James was born on April 24, 1940, in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was one of two children born from the union of the late Richard and V.Irene (Knowels) Roney. The family moved to Monroe in 1948, and it was here that James would make his home and raise his two daughters. He made his living working for Tec*mseh Products before retiring in 2002.

James was a member of the VFW post 1138, the FOP post 1113, the Eagles, the Moose lodge, and the Foreign Legion. He was a very social and outgoing person with a personality all his own. In his spare time, James liked to travel up north to his property in Glennie, MI with his best friend Bill Jennings. He and Bill enjoyed golfing up there however, you would never find them on a course near home.

James loved his family and cherished his time spent with them. He will be missed by many.

To cherish his memory, James leaves two daughters: Wendy and Lynn Roney, two grandchildren: Jim and Eli Jacobs; a great grandchild, and his four-legged grand baby, Lady.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Richard D. Roney.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 until 7 pm. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 7 pm. Chaplain James Phul will officiate.

Velma L. Mumby, age 90 of Monroe, passed away the morning of Thursday April 21, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Velma was born February 24, 1932 in Harbor Beach, MI to the late Bill and Vera (Ramsey) Will. Velma worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Ilgenfritz Nursery and later Snow’s Nursery. She was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was a member of Eve Circle, various committees and financial secretary for many years. Velma married Charles Mumby on August 16, 1952. Sadly, Charles passed away in November of 1987.

To cherish her memory, Velma leaves three daughters: Cheryl (Phillip) Manor, Jo Anne (Chuck) Cousino, and Denise (Hal) Shugarman; seven grandchildren: Nick (Jessica) Manor, Brad (Jaclyn) Manor, Kelly (Travis) Tomlin, Bryan Cousino, Steve (Natalie) Hilliard, Carly Hilliard, and Brooke Shugarman; and three great grandchildren: Emmett, Emma, and Adalyn.

Along with her parents and husband, Velma is preceded in death by her brother, Arnold Will, and her sister, Betty Poplawski.

Family and friends may visit from 4-7pm on Monday April 25, 2022 at Rupp Funeral Home. Velma will lie in-state at 10am on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where a funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11am. Rev. William Lass, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Stella Poskey, 90, of Monroe passed away at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

Born Stella Jean Albinack on October 3, 1931, she was the daughter of Joseph and Rose Albinack. Stella attended St. Mary’s Academy and spent her early career with AT&T and later was employed by Green Meadows Golf Course retiring in 1990.

She married Jay T. Poskey on July 24, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church. She served as a general member of the Christian Women’s Group volunteering at the monthly soup luncheons. She also served St. Mary’s as a Eucharistic Minister at ProMedica Hospital.

Stella is survived by her daughters, Cheryl A. Koning and Bonnie Poskey; and her grandchildren, Thomas and Michelle Koning.

In addition to her husband and parents, Stella was preceded in death by three sisters: Kathy, Mary, and Rosemarie; and a brother, Joseph.

In accordance with Stella’s wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held for immediate family.

Arrangements are being handled by Rupp Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or Hospice of Michigan.

Born December 14, 1950, Russell was one of three children born from the union of the late Clyde and Betty (Wolfe) Grodi. He graduated from Jefferson High School with the class od 1969. Russell started his career working for La Z Boy but went on to work for DTE until his retirement.

Russell was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a member of Local #223. He had a great passion for sports. In his spare time, you would often find Russell and his brother at local high school sporting events however, you would always find him at any game that included his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He loved to travel to Florida and visit he father and he loved the horse track. Russell was a kind, giving and generous man and will be missed by many. His brother Jeff was not just a brother, but a best friend

To cherish his memory, he leaves a brother Jeffrey Grodi, a brother in law, Donald Lingar two nieces: April (Joel) Fix and Annette (Jeffrey) Peters; and many great nieces and nephews.

Russell is preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Lingar, and his parents.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 12 until 4 pm at Rupp Funeral Home. A funeral service in his honor will take place at 4 pm. A private burial will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Deanna D’Arpini, age 81 of Monroe, passed away suddenly at home on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Born September 24, 1940, in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Loretta (Cooley) Woods. Deanna graduated from Monroe High School. She made her living for many years working for the IHM Sisters as a nurses aide.

Deanna met and married the love of her life: Saturno “John” D’Arpini on July 30, 1960, in Monroe. They raised a family of three children. They spent over 52 wonder years together before John’s passing in 2012.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, doing arts and crafts, sewing, and cooking. Her family especially enjoyed her chicken sliders, which she took great pride in. Deanna loved the Christmas holiday and all the excitement it would bring. Although Christmas was her favorite, Halloween came in very close.

Most importantly, her family meant the world to her. She was always a very loving, caring, and giving woman. Deanna will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved mother of John D’Arpini of Monroe, Jeff (Kay) D’Arpini of Monroe, and Connie (Mike) Tibai of Maybee. Loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Rick Woods, Keith Woods, and Wilma.

In addition to her parents, Deanna is preceded in death by her husband: John D’Arpini, and brother: Arnold “Sonny” Woods.

Eugene “Gene” Albert Bunge, age 92, of Summerfield, FL, formally of Monroe, MI passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Ocala Regional Hospital in Ocala, FL.

Gene was born on July 27, 1929, to the late Albert and Ethel (Young) Bunge in Ida, MI. He was the 5th of 6 children, raised by his Uncle Fred and Aunt Rose in Ida, MI due to parental illness. Gene was baptized and confirmed at East Immanuel Lutheran Church. He attended Ida schools thru the 8th grade when he left to work on the family farm. Gene met and married the love of his life Carol J Waldecker on July 19, 1948. He went on to work for 33 years as a painter in the maintenance department at Chrysler retiring in December 1986. He enjoyed going to the Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway races and watching his family race. He and Carol moved to Summerfield, FL after his retirement. He always enjoyed going to Biloxi, MS with his wife to the Imperial Palace Casino.

Gene was proceeded in death by his wife Carol, children Eugene Jr., Diane, stillborn baby, & Ronald. Siblings Hazel, Herman, Chester, Lois & Helen.

Gene is survived by sons Douglas (Dianna Sorrell) Bunge of Beverly Hills, FL, Steve (Julie) Bunge of Ida, MI, Grandchildren Amie (Nathan) Beard, Anastasia Luhellier, Michael (Mackenzie) Bunge, Christopher Bunge, Lori (Lyn) Hall, & Scot Bunge, 13 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren, special relatives Brad Luhellier and Wayne Waldecker.

Arlene was born February 3, 1943 in Toledo, OH to the late Joseph and Clara (Grzeszczak) Zywiczynski. She worked for Monroe-Mason Alternative High School as a “Building Agent”. Arlene married Raymond Sharp on April 8, 1972 in Trilby, OH. Sadly, he passed away on December 16, 2004.

In her spare time, Arlene loved to crochet. She was well known for her afghans. She was a long time, dedicated member of St. Michael's Parish.

To cherish her memory, Arlene leaves her daughter, Rebecca (Louis) Sharp-Marquez, and life long best friend, Judith Lado.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene is also preceded in death by her dearest furbaby, Neena.

Family and friends may visit from 6-8pm at Rupp Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Arlene will lie in-state at 10am on Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, where a mass will be held at 11am. Father Kishore, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.

Brian B. Stininger age 49, of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022. He was a good Christian man and had a big heart for his family and friends.

Brian was born on April 19, 1972, from the union of David and Bobbie (Pribyl) Stininger, Sr. in Toledo, Ohio.

On December 13, 2014 he married the love of his life, Tracy Abbott at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Brian was a noble American with an infectious smile who proudly served in the United States Army. He worked for Jefferson High School in the Maintenance Department before taking a medical retirement in 2014. He was fond of Bolen tractors and could usually be found tinkering with small engines. Brian had an unmatched patience and calmness about him that showed through as he spent quality family time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving is his Wife, Tracy; Children, Jacob Stininger of Blissfield, Corey Stininger of Toledo, Isaiah DeWolf of Newport, Bridgette Warthen of Monroe and Dominique Warthen of Taylor; Siblings, David (Michelle) Stininger Jr., Daniel Stininger, Michael Stininger, Vera (Brian) Ellinger, Shawn Stininger, and Krystal (James) Pepper; Mother Bobbie Stininger of Toledo; Father David Stininger Sr. of Monroe; Uncle David Pribyl, and Grandmother Betty Pribyl. Three Grandchildren that Brian absolutely adored, Destery, Rose and Marie.

Sadly, Brian is preceded in death by a Son Joseph, Sister Tonya and Grandfather Ben Pribyl.

Family and Friends may visit on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2pm to 8pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 11 am at Rupp Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating. Burial will take place at Whiteford Union Cemetery in Lambertville, MI immediately following the service.

Born March 26, 1959, in Monroe, Fabian was the son of the late Raymond and Marcella (La Fountain) Bomia. He attended school here in Monroe and eventually started his career as a machinist at a steel plant. Fabian then married Linda Young and they raised two sons, Fabian and Jason.

In his spare time, Fabian enjoyed working on cars. Most importantly, he loved being with his family.

To cherish his memory, Fabian leaves his children: Fabian Bomia and Jason Young; grandchildren: Lucas Bomia, Marie Young, Angelica Young, Madison Young, JJ Young, and Alex Young; sister, Darlene (Bomia) Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fabian is preceded in death by three siblings: Donna Snapp, Roxanne Hoffer, and David Bomia.

He was born on May 29, 1946, in Monroe, MI. He attended Monroe High School. He joined the US Navy in April 1964 and served on the boxing team for the Navy, he was an accomplished boat coxswain. He was stationed in CA, WA, IL, SC, FL and Scotland. After serving for 21 years as a boatswains mate, he retired in Dec 1994. He then went onto work for Reliatex Inc in Jacksonville, FL and retired in 2011

He married the love of his life Carol A. DuVall on Dec 5, 1964. He loved camping, golfing, bowling, and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Edna (Adkins) Wiley, father Thomas Wiley, brother John Wiley, sisters-in-law Beatrice (Kay) Wiley, Peggy Wiley, Donna Gray and Grandparents.

He was survived by his wife of 58 years Carol (DuVall) Wiley of Denver, daughters April (Wiley) Driscoll of Denver, Leann (Wiley) Herndon of Denver, brothers Clyde (Bud) Wiley of Monroe, Charles (Mary) Wiley of Monroe, and sister Joycelyn (Greg) Kapp of Monroe, 3 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

The funeral service will be at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S Custer Rd, Monroe MI, 48161 on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1:30 pm. Roger Lee Evans, age 87, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in his home, in the early morning hours of April 11, 2022.

Born January 9, 1935, in Monroe, Michigan, Roger was one of six children born from the union of the late Kyle and Pauline (Nagy) Evans. He received his high school diploma from Monroe High School, graduating with the class of 1953. In 1955, Roger married Ina Zimmerman and together they would raise four sons. Although he started his career as a Police Officer, Roger chose to become a Firefighter for the Monroe Fire Department and did so from 1964 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Monroe Moose lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Roger was a very hard working and busy man. When he was not at the fire department, he could usually be found doing odd jobs for others. He was outgoing and always stayed active. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, going on walks, music, singing and a good meal. Most of all, however, Roger loved his time spent with his family.

To cherish his memory, he leaves four sons: Kevin Evans, Alan (Donna) Evans, Dennis Evans, and Ryan (Peggy) Evans; five grandchildren: Ashley Blake, Amber Ransom, Denise Strother, Alexis Evans, and Matthew Evans; a sister, Shirley (Richard) Nation, and six great grandchildren.

Roger is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ina Evans, three brothers: Kyle, Jim and Tom Evans, and a sister, Thelma Turner.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1 until 7 pm. A funeral service will take place at Rupp on Friday, April 15,2022 at 10 am. Rev. Lyle Frederick Kull, age 84 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly the morning of Monday April 11, 2022 in his home.

Lyle was born February 13, 1938 in Monroe, MI to the late Elten and Marion (Hoppert) Kull. During his school years, he bravely joined the United States Navy to serve his country. Upon returning to civilian life, Lyle would go on to meet and marry the love of his life, Maxine Duvall. Lyle would go on to make a life for himself by driving truck and being a union laborer for the Teamsters.

Lyle could often be found on the farm, one of his favorite places to be. He loved to shepherd his flock of sheep. He also enjoyed mowing and tending to his lawn. Lyle was also known for setting turtle traps.

To cherish his memory, Lyle leaves his loving wife, Maxine; two daughters: Juanita (Mark) Barker and Lisa (Tom) Messer; one brother, Albert Kull; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Lyle is also preceded in death by his son, Kevin Kull; and three sisters: Joyce Mullen, Anna Marie Russow, and Carol Langton.

Family and friends may gather from 10am-1pm on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe. A memorial service celebrating Lyle’s life will be held at the end of the gathering at 1pm. MONROE, Mich. – Sister Marie Markel, IHM, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the IHM Motherhouse health care center after sixty-five years as IHM Sister Lawrence Mary.

Born Marie Elaine Markel on Sept. 19, 1935, to Lawrence and Mary (Smith) Markel of Marine City, Michigan, she grew up with a sister and six brothers on the family farm on Markel Road and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the near vicinity. Marie attended Holy Cross Elementary and graduated from Holy Cross High School.

After entering the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1957, her education expanded with degrees from Marygrove College, Wayne State University and SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary.

Sr. Marie ministered in formal elementary education at St. Catherine and St. Matthew (Detroit); Hall of the Divine Child (Monroe); St. Gerard Majella (Kirkwood, Missouri) and the John Carroll School in Oklahoma City. In 1980, a great change came as she transitioned into Pastoral Ministry, Parish Administration and Liturgy Coordination. She shared her gifts in Parish Ministry and as Director of Religious Education with the parish of St. Thomas Aquinas (Detroit) for over 10 years, St. Regis (Birmingham), and at Holy Family Parish, Saginaw. It was at Holy Spirit Parish beginning in 1999 that she would flourish and find a home in parish, pastoral and liturgical ministries for over 20 years. Sr. Marie was well respected and well known in these ministries. In the later Saginaw years, she was challenged by illnesses, which sadly, caused her to leave the ministries and people she so loved. In recent years, she resided at the IHM Motherhouse before entering the health care center.

Sr. Marie is survived by sister Sylvia Dietlin, cousin Sr. Mary Ann (John Andrew) Markel, IHM, and many nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Bernard, Charles, Clair, Kenneth, Lynn and Marvin preceded her.

Friends who have been fully vaccinated are welcome to attend services and are requested to enter via the main entrance on Elm Ave. and supply a phone number in the event of contract tracing. Facial Masks are to be always worn in the Motherhouse and Chapel.

Services will be held at the IHM Motherhouse Chapel, 610 W. Elm Ave. Monroe, on Wednesday, April 13. Don Bodamer, 93, of Lewisville, NC, died on April 8, 2022, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law. Before moving to be with them seven years ago, he and his wife, Carolyn Kennedy Bodamer, lived in Madison, TN for 49 years.

Don, the first child of Otto William and Mary Irene Stahl Bodamer, was born on March 24, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Otto Kent and Keith Allen.

Lt. Bodamer met Carolyn at a friend’s party in Wisconsin, where Don was stationed as a radar engineer for the US Air Force. They married on August 22, 1953.

For 42 years, Don worked as an engineer for Dupont. He began in Martinsville, VA for a few years, then worked at the Old Hickory, TN plant. In his last years at Dupont and following his retirement, Don was a leader with Fun with Science, a school program designed to encourage the exploration of life through science.

Don was very active in his church including his leadership of “The Ramblers” senior adult group which had monthly meals and outings.

Left to celebrate his life and live up to the best of his example are his wife of 68 years, Carolyn; daughter, Susan (Rick Jordan); son, Mark (Jay McDonald); grandsons, Todd (Stacey Brandsma); Ben (Samantha) and their son, Theodore.

A graveside service will be held next week in Monroe, MI. A memorial service will be held in May at Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where the Bodamers were long-time members and leaders. Memorial gifts may be given to this church at 3705 Brush Hill Road, Nashville, TN 37216.

Oscar worked various jobs throughout his life, including janitorial work at the hospital and most recently at Taco Bell. In his spare time, Oscar loved searching for hidden treasures at garage sales, watching and collecting old Western shows and items (especially John Wayne), painting ceramics, and watching NASCAR (his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr.). He was an avid history buff who could remember many facts, and loved anything to do with the Presidents of the US. He won several medals in Special Olympics, and loved to participate.

To cherish his memory, Oscar leaves his sister, Chris Goans; Dave; nieces, Regina, Stacey, Angie and Kristie; nephew, Gerry; special aunt Rena; several great nieces and nephews; his roommates and his favorite dog, Mosby. A special thanks to the staff of MRO for taking excellent care of Oscar.

Along with his parents, Oscar is also preceded in death by his brother, Mike Wilson, and sister-in-law, Candy Wilson.

A private family service was held and Oscar was laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Born September 18, 1942, in Partnico, Sicily. She was one of three children of the late Ignazio and Caterina Perna. Nina worked at a school in Sicily, as a professional seamstress.

Nina met and married the love of her life: Salvatore “Sam” Mignano on October 10, 1959, in Sicily. When she was 18, she came over the United States in 1960. They raised their family and spent over 65 wonderful years together.

Nina was a long-time member of St. Mike’s Catholic Church of Monroe. She also enjoyed sewing in her free time for her family. Most importantly, Nina adored her family-especially her grandchildren. They were her world to spoil and treasure. She was the head matriarch, the glue thatkept everyone together. She’ll be remembered as the peacekeeper as well as a loving person to everyone she met. Nina will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved wife of Sam Mignano. Loving mother of Salvatore Mignano and Mario (Kim) Mignano. Dearest Nonna of Nicholas (Ariel) Jordan, Katie (Alex) Mulvaney, Caterina Mignano, Antonia Mignano, Amanda Mignano, and Sarah Mignano. Born August 6, 1957, in Detroit, he was one of six children of the late Roger and Carolyn (Reece) Peck. Bob graduated from Farmington High School in 1975 and later continued his education at Northwood Institute; he received 2 associates and a bachelor's degree in 1980.

Bob met Laurie Owen, the love of his life, at the age of 15 and they married on July 18, 1981. They raised two children and spent over 50 wonderful years together.

He got his start working at his father’s dealership, Roger Peck Chevrolet, in Farmington Hills. He then opened his own business, Bob Peck’s Show & Go Investments, specializing in muscle cars. Over his 30 year career, Bob sold more than 8,700 cars before retiring.

After retiring, they moved to LaSalle, where he discovered his love for homesteading and spent his time gardening. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, muscle cars, and spending time with family and friends. Bob was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was the center of the family.

Beloved husband of Laurie Peck. Loving father of Kyle (Kayla) Peck and Randi (Brett) Laird. Dearest grandfather of Nora Peck. Dear brother of Sharon (Glen) Holmes, William Peck, Linda Farley, Debra (Steve) Brock, and Carolyn (John) Thiele. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Roger and Carolyn Peck. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.

Born July 20, 1954, in Selma, California. She was the daughter of the late William and Louise (Donaldson) Hall. As a child, her family moved to the Monroe area, where she was raised. Willa graduated from Monroe High School in 1973.

Willa met the love of her life: Seymour Bray Jr. They got married on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1991, under a waterfall on the Main Island of Hawaii. They raised their family and spent over 31 wonderful years together.

Willa was a member of the River of Life Community Church of Dundee. In her free time, she liked to go shopping at unique places like Shipshewana. Willa also enjoyed working on her home projects or remodeling. She was always proud of any accomplishment that they completed on their home, like their new porches they added on.

Most importantly, Willa adored spending quality time with her family, especially her grandkids. They were her world to spoil and treasure. She was big on taking many pictures and home videos of her family to document the happy times spent. Willa also had a soft spot for her beloved dogs. She will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved wife of Seymour Bray Jr. Loving mother of Scott (Kim) LePage, Windy (Jeremy) Cousino, Lonnie (Kathy) Bray, and Ryan (Kristen) Bray. His family eventually moved to Naperville, Illinois where Michael attended and graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University. Michael received a second degree as Physical therapist and eventually established his own business as a massage therapist and later became a life coach.

Michael enjoyed eating good food, reading books, and watching movies. Most importantly, Michael loved his two children, Christopher and Sarah. Being born in U of M Hospital also started him on a journey of being a lifelong passionate Wolverine fan.

To cherish his memory, Michael leaves his children, Christopher Gaudaen and Sarah Gaudaen; parents, Michael and Linda Gaudaen; sister, Faith Gaudaen; and mother of his children, Dina Ayers. Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Gaudaen; his paternal grandparents, George and Blanche Gaudaen; and maternal grandparents, Morris and Joan Frenzell.

As a youngster, Richard helped his father care for over 1,000-acres ofland at St. Mary's Farm. He was an advisor through Jr. Achievement 4H and also a Pack Leader for Cub Scouts. Later in life, he ran several restaurants and owned The Fireside Inn in Conover, Wisconsin. Richard was a plant manager and consultant for multiple auto companies. He loved to fish, golf, cook, and travel but his favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his life partner, Karen Wyman; children, Teri (John) Fix, Thomas (Jackie) Fix, Todd (Wendy) Fix, Tammie (Jim) Ray, Tracie (Pete) Nabozny, Ann (Dwayne) Wunrow; 17 grandchildren; brothers, David Fix, Robert (Sandra) Fix, and Kenneth (Melva) Fix;

Visitation for Richard will be on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home, Inc., Monroe, MI from 1:00-8:00PM. Born August 22, 1953, in Monroe, Merlyn was the son of the late Merlyn and Irene (Sebesta) Kuehnlein. Merlyn attended Monroe High School before enlisting in the United States Army in January of 1971.

Upon returning home from the Army, Merlyn established his own concrete business, Kuehnlein Home Improvement. He dedicated many years to his business and eventually retired after 40 years.

Merlyn married the love of his life, Susan Rishe, on March 6, 1999, in Jamaica. They spent over 23 wonderful years together. The two enjoyed camping in their RV, especially in Frankenmuth.

To cherish his memory, Merlyn leaves his loving wife, Susan; his three loving fur babies: Cooper, Abby, and Ozzie; and numerous relatives and friends. Merlyn is preceded in death by his parents.

Betty Marie Burke, 94 of Temperance, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Hickory Ridge of Temperance.

Born February 25, 1928, in Monroe, Betty was the daughter of the late Roy and Carla (Estes) Whitaker. She met the love of her life, Clarence Burke and they married April 7, 1945, at Clark Street Baptist Church. Sadly, Clarence preceded her in death on November 6, 2017. Betty worked as a homemaker most of her life, raising their daughter, Nancy. Betty also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Monroe Hospital.

Betty attended the Free Methodist Church for many years. She loved creating baby clothes, baby shoes, scarfs, and many other items. She was also an avid bowler, winning the First-Place trophy in 1970. Betty loved to travel, especially to Northern Michigan to witness the changing of the Fall colors. Above all else, Betty loved spending time with her family and friends.

To cherish in her memory, Betty leaves behind her loving daughter, Nancy (Leo) Bishop; grandson, Aaron (Sarah) Bishop; three great grandchildren, Noel, Harley, and Gavain Bishop;three sisters, Joyce Moyers, Patty Pendleton-Turner, and Donna Hensley; and Gavain's mother, Emily.

Peter JohnBetrus, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Saturday March 26,2022surrounded by his loving family. He was seriously ill for the last two months.

Peter was born March 19,1940in Monroe, MI to the late Fred and Sadie (Hatem)Betrus. Pete’s family owned and operatedBetrusMarket in Monroe. He was baptized at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, OH. Pete attended St. Mary Grade School and graduated from Monroe Catholic Central. He then went onto graduate from Eastern Michigan University and later received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Toledo. Pete began his law careeras a partner in the firm Merman,Betrus, and Sawyer here in Monroe, before practicing on his own and later retiring in 1998.

Pete became active in politics as a member and past chairman of the Democratic party. He ran for State Senate and was a delegate to the National Convention in New York when Jimmy Carter was nominated. Pete then became a conservative Republican and voted that way until his death. Pete also served on the Monroe School Board.

Pete loved his family, his Lebanese heritage and its food, Notre Dame football, watching Fox News, and debating politics whether you wanted to or not, all while arguing his point. Pete was intelligent and articulate on any subject.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: H. Marie Smith, LillianJ.Betrus, and Sally A. Vanderpool; his nephews: Mark D. Smith, Brian A. Smith,Michael R. Vanderpool,and Dean Dru Vanderpool; niece, Mary Frances Vanderpool;and great niece Sadie N. Gutierrez.

Pete is survived by Deana A. Vanderpool, Peggy A. Vanderpool, Jim (Terrie) Vanderpool, Julie (Jim)Panza, Paul W. (Kim) Smith, Alison (Smith)Avendt(DanSchwanke), Bernie Abbate Smith, special cousin Mary Ann Byers, and numerous great and greatgreatnieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather from 4-7pm on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at Rupp Funeral Home, with a small family prayer service at 7pm. In accordance with Pete’s wishes, cremation has occurred and his ashes will be interred on a later dateat St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
