What is White Trash Recipe?

The first White Trash recipe I remember trying is the delicious white chocolate chex mix recipe. It’s been around as long as I can remember! White Trash is a traditional holiday candy mix that gives you a little bit of everything. You’ll get decadent sweetness from sugary cereal and M&M’s. Plus you’ll get a little bit of salt and a whole lot of crunch from the peanuts and pretzels. Top it all off with a smooth and creamy finish courtesy of the melted almond bark that holds it all together. Amazing and simple! My recipe is traditional in the sense that it’s a white trash recipe almond bark based. Many people use white chocolate candy melts as a base for White Trash. Almond bark has a much better texture and finish. My recipe is not so traditional in that I’ve thrown Captain Crunch cereal into the mix! Once you’ve had it my way…you’ll never go back.

What Ingredients Do You Need to Make White Trash Recipe?

The ingredients in my recipe are similar to that of the Chex Mix Trash Recipe. I’ve thrown in a couple cereal curveballs that I think you’ll love. You’ll need Chex cereal, Kix cereal, Captain Crunch cereal, thin pretzels, peanuts, M&M’s and almond bark. Oh, and wax paper too!

Get creative with your M&M’s,they hold all the color, and therefore all the power, in this recipe! If you’re looking for a mix recipe with a bit more color to add to your snack table, try ourElf Munch Snack Mix! It’s sure to add a little merry and a lot of bright!

How do You Make White Trash Recipe?

Spread your wax paper, about 18 inches or so, out on the countertop. Fold all the ingredients (except for the almond bark) together into a large mixing bowl. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the almond bark according to the instructions on the package. Fold the melted almond bark into the dry mixture until it’s evenly coated. Pour out onto wax paper and allow the bark to set. Break it up and pass it out! I can’t decide which is easier to make. White Trash or ourEasy Crockpot Candy. Thoughts?

Neither one involves an oven. So right there we have a huge plus!

Recipe Notes For White Trash Recipe:

Almond Bark: Don’t overcook it! Vigorous mixing after each heating interval is imperative to the melting process.

Mixing: When you pour the melted almond bark over the dry mix, be sure to dig down deep and coat every last piece! Do so gently so that you don’t crush the cereals!

Golden Grahams: Clearly, I love cereal in my White Trash mix. Once you’ve had my original, branch out and try a few new additions! A White Trash recipe with Golden Grahams is one you HAVE to try. So good!

Crispix: While we’re talking cereal, don’t forget to try the Crispix White Trash recipe. Super crunchy. In my opinion, I would just add the Crispix and Golden Grahams to the existing cereal combo…but what can I say? I love cereal.

Popcorn: I typically don’t make my White Trash recipe with popcorn, but it sure is a delicious addition every once and awhile!

Powdered Sugar: In your travels, you might come across a White Trash recipe with powdered sugar. This is simply another way to coat the mix-ins. You can mix the powdered sugar with melted butter and a dash of vanilla to create a sweet, powdery topping. It’s tasty for sure, but I do prefer the almond bark.

Can You Make White Trash Recipe Ahead of Time?

You betcha! In fact, you kind of have to. I mean, that almond bark has to harden before you serve it, so definitely give yourself some time if you need it ready to serve by a certain time. If you’re looking to make it a few days in advance, that will work too! Just be sure to store it in an airtight container.
