1. Explore the Whitespring Bunker
I've found Sam Blackwell's Congressional bunker access card. I should head over to the Whitespring and see if it still works.
Go to The Whitespring Bunker.
Use the ID Card Reader (Congressional Access Card) and go inside.
2. Enter the bunker
I made my way to the Whitespring Congressional Bunker ... and someone invited me inside.
3. Continue deeper into the bunker
This voice - who claims to be the bunker's final resident - has offered to show me what this bunker is capable of. I guess I ought to continue further in.
4. Have your photo taken
The voice has directed me to get my picture taken by activating the button on the far side of the room.
5. Activate the dispenser
The voice apparently has had something manufactured for me. All I have to do is grab it from the dispenser.
You will receive Urban Operative Underarmor.
6. Meet the bunker's resident
The voice told me to proceed down the stairs so we can become ... better acquainted. Whatever that might mean.
Find and activate the MODUS Terminal then listen to him.
7. Proceed to the next room
I've met the source of the voice - the bunker's automated caretaker, MODUS. He's offered me access to the bunker and its capabilities, if I can prove myself a worthy candidate. He also mentioned snacks.
7.1. (Optional) Collect your refreshments
On your way to the next room you will find two hand scanner activated dispensers.
8. Take the "Entrance Questionnaire"
MODUS has given me a choice: I can take an questionnaire to prove my knowledge and "character" or I can just speak to him to proceed onto my evaluation.
Use the Questionnaire Terminal > Begin Questionnaire > You have to select your profession and belief system (It seems to me that this choice does not matter - I chose Doctor / Scientist and John Stuart Mill) > then you have to answer three questions:
- Who was the 18th President of the United States? - Ulysses S. Grant
- Which is the only fork placed on the right of the dinner place? - Oyster fork
- Which general was responsible for the reclamation of Anchorage, Alaska in January 2077 from the Chinese Red Army? - General Constantine Chase
8.1. (Optional) Bypass the questionnaire by speaking to Modus
Just speak to MODUS.
9. Speak to MODUS
I've completed the questionnaire. Now I just need to speak to MODUS to get my results.
10. Access the dispenser
Activate the nearby dispenser, you will receive System Access Tape.
11. Load the System Access Tape into a SigInt System terminal
Now it's time to leave the bunker. Fast travel is the best option but if you want to leave the bunker in "the traditional way" you have to open the main gate using the Vault Door Controls.
Go to Sugar Grove, enter the building and find SigInt System Terminal. Activate it and load the System Access Tape into it > Initiate External Connection.
12. Collect MODUS' lost data
Find the Archival Dispenser. You will receive Module Instructions.
13. Return the instructions to the Whitespring
I got the tech MODUS requested. Time to drop it off back in the Whitespring.
Return to The Whitespring Bunker. If the vault door is closed then use Vault Door Controls to open it.
14. Deposit the instructions in the collector
MODUS said I need to deposit the Sugar Grove tech in the collector against the far wall.
Find and activate the Collector.
15. Access the dispenser
MODUS has constructed something for me using the tech I acquired from Sugar Grove. I just have to grab it from the dispenser.
Grab Uplink Module from the nearby dispenser.
16. Deploy the Uplink Module at the connection site
MODUS wants to reconnect to an orbital platform watching over Appalachia - the Kovac-Muldoon. To do it, he needs me to plug this (possibly explosive) "Uplink Module" into a platform he's specified.
Go to National Radio Astronomy Research Center and enter the roof of the building.
Insert uplink module into into the Connection Platform.
17. Collect the items from inside the care package
MODUS and the Kovac are reunited at last. Hurrah? But MODUS did call in a "care package" from the orbital platform. I should head over and collect.
Go to the location marked on your map and collect Orbital Scan Beacon and Orbital Strike Beacon. You will also learn how to craft them.
18. Return to the Whitespring
I collected all the goodies out of the Kovac's care package. Now I need to check in with MODUS.
Return to The Whitespring Bunker and talk to MODUS terminal.
19. (Quest completed)
MODUS has invited me to join his "Enclave". I can now explore the bunker ... though it sounds like I'll need additional clearances to access certain sections.
