how to make this blood orange margarita

I love margarita recipes from scratch and this blood orange margarita recipe is no exception. No mixes here!

  1. First, if you wish to rim the glasses with sugar and/or salt, start with that first! Rub rims of two glasses with a lime wedge. Pour sugar/salt onto a plate and spread out evenly. Dip rims of glasses into sugar/salt until evenly coated.
  2. Add tequila, triple sec, blood orange juice, and lime juice to a shaker, and mix well.
  3. Fill glasses with ice. Pour margarita into the glasses.
  4. Garnish with lime wedges, sip and enjoy!

can you prepare a big batch?

Yes! This is the best approach when making these for a crowd. Simply multiply the base of the co*cktail (lime juice, tequila, triple sec, and blood orange juice) based on how many co*cktails you wish to make. Combine all of the ingredients, except the ice, and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Then top with lime wedges.

If you are looking to prepare these ahead of time, combine all of the ingredients, except the ice, and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Then, when ready to serve, pour mixture over ice and top with fresh lime wedges!

what to serve with this easy margarita recipe

This is the fun part that you can make these for girls nights or just to take Taco Tuesday up a notch! But a bowl of chips andhomemade salsa, orHoney Chipotle Chicken Tacoswould pair perfectly!

FAQs

How to infuse tequila with blood orange? ›

Fill a small co*cktail shaker with ice. Pour in the tequila, freshly squeezed blood orange and lime juice and agave nectar. If desired, add a drop of vanilla extract (don't pour it straight from the bottle, I used the blunt end of a fork as a dropper). Put on the lid and shake for 30 seconds.

What is the salt on margaritas? ›

What Is The Best Salt For Margarita Rim? The best salt to use is kosher salt, which is more coarse and won't dissolve quickly as table salt will. However, several variations from spicy salt to flavored salt are available today, giving the kosher standard a run for its money.

Why does salt make a margarita taste better? ›

First, it acts as a flavor enhancer, creating a perfect balance between the tartness of the lime and the robustness of the tequila. Second, the saltiness can help to cut through the sweetness of any fruit-flavored margaritas, providing a savory contrast that elevates the overall drinking experience.

What to mix with blood orange cider? ›

Blood Orange Spritz

Cointreau is always my first choice,” says Stanislav Harcinik of Mirror Bar in Bratislava. “It brings citrusy-zesty aromatics to a Margarita's flavor profile, and makes the drink even lighter, with its aromatic floral notes that always make me smell it one more time and, of course, [take] another sip.”

Do you lick the salt before or after margarita? ›

Lick the salt off the rim as you drink your blended drink.

Lift your drink up to you and lick the rim, then use the straw to sip your margarita. If you don't like the salted rim, you can use the straw to avoid it altogether.

How much salt to add to a co*cktail? ›

I would also use a relatively weak saline solution of 1 part salt to 10 parts water (about 1/8 teaspoon table salt in 1 tablespoon of water) because you can always add more saline to a drink, but you can can't take it out once you've gone over the line.

Why do people lick salt then drink tequila? ›

One of the primary reasons why salt accompanies tequila is its ability to lessen the burn often associated with drinking straight shots of this potent spirit. When a tequila shot is taken, the salt is a sensory distraction that diverts attention from the raw burning sensation.
